Oman, Oct 17: Oman’s most popular Mangalorean Catholic Association known by MCCP (Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish), organized a local photography contest recently. Talented professionals, amateurs and emerging artists actively participated in this contest. The eminent juries from the professional field have been assigned to select the best images, which touch on ideas and concepts surrounding the photographic portrait while exploring other avenues. A range of moods, settings, characters, and expressions are all present.
Speaking on the occasion, Jessie Pereira – a vibrant Community leader and the MCCP’s current President says “Photography contests are a great way to find out if your images are up to scratch”. By taking part in these competitions, you can exhibit your skillful talents – she added.
The venue came alive with enthusiasm when people irrespective of their age participated in this contest at Corniche Muttrah, which is a very popular tourist destination in Oman. The objective of the contest is to provide a platform for amateur photographers to showcase their skills and insight – their ability to recognize the natural beauty, compose and click them in a fraction of minute.

Whether you are a professional photographer, a student, or an amateur hobbyist, photography contests provide the perfect platform to hone your skills and evolve your expression, she added.
The programme commenced at 8 am with a welcome note by Praveen Niddodi (Cultural Secretary). Terence Dsouza – Vice President, briefed the participants about the rules of the contest. The participants then had to click photographs on the spot and submit them to the organizers. The photograph was to be clicked within an assigned area and no editing of photographs were permitted. Only digital cameras were allowed for this purpose. Only one entry was permitted per participant.
The results of the competition will be announced at a later date and the winners will be awarded the prizes during the next mega event on 29th November 2019.
The entire event meticulously planned and executed by the entire MCCP Executive Committee lead by Jessie Pereira as the President, Monica Fernandis (Vice President – Sports & Finance), Vinod Terence D’ Souza (Vice President – Cultural, Spiritual & CS), Silvia Dias (General Secretary), Victoria Trecilla Menezes (Honorary Treasurer), Sharon Alva (Internal Auditor), Reshma D Costa (Sports Secretary), Praveen Donald Serra (Cultural Secretary), Vikas Marshal Fernandes (Spiritual Secretary), and Merita Pinto (Community Services Secretary).
